This week’s Missing Laos spotlight shines on our friend Thieng! He’s one of my best friends in Laos and is the husband of one of Tonya’s best friends, Keo! I first met Thieng when Keo brought him over to the house right before they started courting. He was very shy at first. It might have had something to do with him sitting in a random and strange foreigner’s house. As our friendship’s grown, I’ve come to realize that he’s anything but shy haha. He became very close with our group and was even one of our Lao Language teachers. He, Singkham, and I became like the three musketeers, or maybe closer to the three stooges. We've spent lot’s of time studying, traveling, joking around, eating, and just hanging out. I also never miss an opportunity to mess with him or give him a hard time. He’s one of my favorite people on the planet.
Getting the opportunity to visit his village was one of my greatest memories from our first term in Laos. He, Singkham and I had a blast! His family and village is full of warm and giving people. He’s one of the many reasons I can’t wait to get back to Laos. Check out a few pictures from my time with Thieng!
