Missing Laos: ARDA / by Joshua P Jacks

One of the craziest things about our journey is the fact that I, Josh, am now a teacher. If I remember correctly, 1/3 of my High School courses were Art Classes and I couldn’t wait to graduate. My life outside of school brought SO MUCH more joy than my life in school. Then, I graduated with an AA from a ministry school that no longer exists. Needless to say, I couldn’t imagine ever being so involved in the world of education.

During our first term in Laos, probably 80% of our time involved ARDA related activities. ARDA is the language school where I taught English, and we learned Lao. We spent countless hours teaching English, getting frustrated with our old brains learning the new Lao language, English clubs, soccer tournaments, team meetings, and so many other adventures!

We have so many new friends and memories that were all made possible from our time at ARDA. I can’t wait to get back to my students, parties, English clubs, studies, and adventures. The friendships have brought so much joy to our family! Our return to ARDA can't come soon enough. Until then, we are “Missing Laos!"
